Shandera Family

Our home is a bustle of activity
but that is exactly the way we hoped and prayed it would be.

When we were handed the keys to our house, we were, to be honest, still rather shocked. A month before, our current home still hadn’t sold. We told the builders that we would never be able to buy this house. Then a buyer showed up and we were able to purchase our new home. That day, together, we decided, God doesn't give people big homes and it was our job to use it to bless others.

Our home is my favorite place.

We hope our home is a place people feel welcome and a part of the family. Normal everyday activities like coming home from school, doing homework, and eating dinner fill our home. We have an open door policy and love when our friends join us. Our very dear friends are right next door and their girls are like our kids too. As they all get off the bus they chatter all the way home, the girls drop off their bags at their home, and immediately come in our back door to play. Matt starts dinner when he gets off work. Sometimes, the girls go home for dinner. Sometimes, we eat together. Sometimes, we all pull leftovers from our fridge and feed everyone whatever we find inside.

We love doing life together as a community.

Our friend McKenna joins us throughout the week. Over the last year, she has become family. We love that she just texts and stops by. We go on adventures, have meals and drinks together, and sometimes we just sit on the couch under blankets chatting all evening. It’s loud, It’s busy. But, it’s home.

Our hope is that within these walls, our people,
whoever may have joined us that day, feel loved by us and Christ.
