searching for wisdom
How did I get here? As a seven year old girl in a small town, I envisioned moving away and becoming a teacher or a nurse. Every girl’s dream, right? Get out of town. Wrangle kids. Bandage wounds.
39 years later, I am exactly 2.9 miles away from where I grew up. Living on a farm. I’m not a teacher or a nurse. I’ve stopped being afraid of raw chicken and I still love cheese. Lots of it. I’ve traveled around the world, while surviving a season of living in another woman’s house. I’ve raised 3 kids and often find myself being a mom to several others. And best of all, I got to do all this for the last 25 years with my husband, Bryce.
How about you? Did you ever have a moment in life where you looked back and thought, “How in the world did that happen?”
I have and most of the time, I just start cracking up. God does some amazing things in our lives. And that’s why I’m here starting this business and this blog because God cleared the path and perhaps gave me a not-so little shove in the right direction. But seriously, if I have learned nothing else from my mother, it is when you pray and God opens a door, it’s time to listen….and obey.
“Is not wisdom found among the aged?
Does not long life bring understanding?” - Job 12:12
Did you ever wish you had your Grandmother’s wisdom or that you got one more day with Grandpa just to ask him that one burning question? Well, now you can. We want to take the time to learn your Grandpa’s story and to hear why your Grandmother always told you, ”there’s no sewing on ascension day.” We want to let your children’s children’s children walk through their life with your Grandma’s wisdom in their head and in their heart.
Here in this blog, I’m inviting you to walk this path with me as I reflect on some lessons learned through my life and a few others that I get the privilege to capture and share. At red dirt recollective, we’re taking those stories and history, and all that wisdom, and we’re turning into a video legacy that can be accessed for generations to come.
So, I am here now. At the farm. Won’t you join me on the adventure?
Searching for wisdom and asking for grace,
