we’re broken

I’ve seen a lot of broken hearts this week. And folks struggling with deep sadness over broken relationships, loss of loved ones, physical separation, unfulfilled dreams, and a country divided against itself.

Have you seen it too?

As I considered what to share with all of you, for today, I feel like less is more.

In Matthew 22, Jesus helps us understand where our priorities should lie.

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” - Matthew 22:36-39 NIV

No matter how much we know about someone else, we will never experience their deepest emotions and reactions. We can only understand others by what we know about ourselves. Be kind. Be loving. Be thoughtful. Our neighbors need us more than ever right now.

Searching for wisdom and asking for grace,

Jody
